ECHEVERIA

Echeveria_Afterglow7.JPG (20893 bytes)- 'Afterglow'   Stunning patio or hot garden plant for the summer - up to 1ft across and flushed a bright purple red. Hardy to  -3C with good drainage.

Echevaria_agavoides.JPG (11833 bytes)- agavoides Good symmetrical shape, leaves tipped red. Up to 6 ins across. Hardy to  -3C with good drainage.

Echevaria_agavoides_Black_Prince.JPG (13849 bytes)- 'Black Prince'  One of the darkest leaved echeverias around. Up to 8 ins across. Hardy to  -3C with good drainage.

Echevaria_shaviana.JPG (13092 bytes)- 'County Fair'   Frilled leaves, flushed pink purple, very unusual forming a rosette up to 8 ins across. Good patio pot plant during the summer. Tender.

-derenbergii  A small clumping echeveria with rosettes 4 to 6cm across, the leaves are tipped with red and the flowers are a bright yellow orange, held on short 5cm stems. Almost alpine like in its habit, it likes full sun and being kept on the dry side throughout the winter.

 - 'Doris Taylor'. This Echeveria has leaves covered with short silvery fur, very unusual and produces stems of deep red/orange flowers which are much larger than the usual size of Echeveria flowers. Produces rosettes up to 4 ins across and clumps up well. Good patio pot plant during the summer. Tender but will take a few degrees of frost if kept dry.

Echeveria elegans4.JPG (557212 bytes)-elegans.  Forms a 4 to 5 inch globe shaped rosette, pale blue flushing to a deep purple on the outer edges of its leaves, produces lots of offsets, hence its common name of ‘Hens and Chicks’. Good patio pot plant during the summer. Hardy to  -3C with good drainage.

Echevaria_glauca.jpg (10381 bytes)- glauca  Forms a lovely blue bowl shape, up to 8 inches in width, good patio pot plant during the summer. Hardy to  -3C with good drainage.

Echeveria_nodulosa_Painted_Lady.JPG (34882 bytes)- nodulosa 'Painted Lady' Apart from the red markings on the leaves this is an unusual echeveria in that it eventually forms a small shrub, up to 50cms in height and spread. Will take several degrees of frost if kept on the dry side through winter.

Echeveria_Perl_von_Nurmberg.jpg (15429 bytes)-'Perl von Nurmberg' Beautifully subtle shades of purple and blue giving a marbled effect to the leaves make this a stunning Echeveria. Loves being outside in the summer, forms rosettes 2-3 inches across that look like they are made of polished stone. Tender and must be kept very dry in winter.

Echevaria_Topsy_Turvy.jpg (11495 bytes)- 'Topsy Turvy' Pale blue leaves with an upturned U shape in section. Up to 9 ins across, tender.

Echeveria_rondalii.JPG (44363 bytes)-tundalii A small echeveria forming quite dark blue-green rosettes (5-6cm across) with lots of offsets giving the plant a 'hummocky' look. Flowers prolifically in spring/summer. Tender and must be kept very dry in winter.


ECHINACEA                                  

echinacea.jpg (17200 bytes) - purpureum. Flowers from July to September. (Cone Flower) Large purple daisy-like flowers with a dark central cone . Hardy. Prefers full sun, in ordinary soil. 3ft


ECHIUM

Echium_pininana2.jpg (10438 bytes) - pininana. Flowers from May to July. Amazing architectural plant, spends two to three years reaching flowering size, then in spring puts out a huge spike of thousands of small blue flowers, bees love it. Half hardy, down to -5C. Prefers full sun, in ordinary moist but well drained soil. Requires a warm, protected position. 12ft

ENSETE

Ensete_vent.jpg (11564 bytes)-ventricosumLarge green leaves with a purple midrib, not hardy but much bigger leaves and faster growing than Musa Basjoo, a good summer bedding plant, can be over wintered indoors or somewhere frost free. Minimum temp 5C.  5-6ft (in one season)

Ensete_vent_maur.jpg (13287 bytes)-ventricosum 'Maurellii'  A big red monster version of the ordinary ensete! Fantastic deep red colouration, makes a spectacular talking point in the garden - be the envy of your friends! A good summer bedding plant, can be over wintered indoors or somewhere frost free. Minimum temp 5C.  5-6ft (in one season)


EUPHORBIA

Euphorbia_amygdaloides_rubra.jpg (17359 bytes) -amygdaloides rubra. Flowers from May to June. Evergreen; a good foliage plant, having deep reddish-purple narrow leaves and yellow flower bracts. Hardy. Prefers light shade, in ordinary soil. 2-3ft
