- 'Madame Galen' Red trumpet flowered Mediterranean climber that is frost hardy but requires a warm sheltered wall to be seen at its best. 10ft height and spread. More vigorous than 'Indian Summer'.

CANNA

Canna are usually available as bare rhizomes from February to April after which they are only sold as growing plants in 2 or 3 litre pots. All rhizomes are priced between £3.00 and £4.00, please email me for details and delivery costs.

Canna Delibab2.jpg (269658 bytes) - `Delibab´. Flowers from July to September. An old Hungarian variety, the name means ´Mirage´.  Another good patio plant. Large coral-pink well-shaped flowers. Half hardy. Prefers full sun, in rich moisture retaining soil. 2-3ft

More spreading habit, wider leaves, and darker/redder foliage than ‘Purpurea’. A superb foliage plant which well deserves its RHS AGM 2002 award.  Half hardy. Canna_Stuttgart.JPG (11637 bytes)- Stuttgart A tall gorgeously variegated canna that has a tendency to burn in sunlight so is best in shade and with its feet in boggy ground as a water marginal. Flowers are unexciting, small and orange but with foliage like this who cares! 6ft+

Canna Mavreb.JPG (560893 bytes)-indica 'Mavreb' A  red small flowered species like variety that makes up for the size of the flowers by have lots more of them! Green foliage with cardinal red flowers, vigorous and seed producing, unlike many other varieties. Height 3ft. 

-indica 'Cornwall' A foliage canna with apple green leaves edged with red and red stems. Small orange red flowers, seed producing. Height 3-4ft


CARDIOCRINUM

Cardiocrinum_giganteum.jpg (14045 bytes) - giganteum. Flowers in August. Monocarpic bulb, that dies after flowering, but usually leaves behind a number of small bulblets which, when grown on, flower in 3 or 4 years and produce the same spires of pure white, strongly scented, trumpet shaped flowers with a deep red throat and enormous heart shaped leaves. Hardy. Prefers light shade, in rich acidic moisture retaining soil. Likes a sheltered position. 6-7ft

CATALPA

- bignoides `Aurea´. Golden Indian Bean Tree. Hardy deciduous small tree/shrub with large yellow leaves. Ideal specimen plant for full sun, sheltered from strong winds. Grow as a small tree or keep cutting back to grow as a bush. Fully Hardy. Prefers full sun, in ordinary soil.

CISTUS

cistus_purpureus.jpg (12084 bytes) - purpureus. Flowers from June to July. Evergreen shrub has purplish pink flowers with maroon blotches. Hardy. Prefers full sun, in ordinary well drained soil. 3-5ft

CLERODENDRON

- bungei. Flowers from August to September. Shrub with large aromatic leaves, tinged purple, and deep purple red fragrant flowers. Lime tolerant Hardy. Plant in ordinary well drained soil. Likes a sheltered position. 5ft

clerodenrum_trichotomum.jpg (7804 bytes) - trichotomum . Flowers from August to September. Shrub; strong growing with white, very fragrant flowers which are enclosed in maroon calyces, followed by blue berries still held in the calyces. Hardy. Plant in ordinary soil. 5ft


COTINUS

- (c. obovatus x c. coggygria) `Grace´. Flowers from July to October. Shrub with large purple red leaves and large purplish pink flower clusters resembling clouds of pink smoke from a distance; autumn colours are vivid scarlet, looks superb with the sun coming through it. Hardy. Plant in ordinary soil. 6ft

- coggygria `Royal Purple´. Flowers from July to September. Shrub with dark purple red leaves and fawn coloured flower clusters, which again resemble clouds of smoke from a distance; lovely autumn colours of dark red. Fully Hardy. Plant in ordinary soil. 5ft


CRINODENDRON

- hookerianum. Flowers from June to August. `Chilean Lantern Tree´ Masses of bright crimson waxy urn shaped flowers followed by furry seed pods. Fully Hardy. Prefers full sun, in ordinary soil. Requires a warm, protected position. 6ft+

CROCOSMIA
